Not everything that has worked for millions of years still meets the requirements for materials today. But wood does! The natural material displays extremely good properties. Thanks to the fibre structure, targeted load-bearing behaviour emerges – wood can absorb very high forces in a longitudinal direction of the fibres.
The impressive added value of wood structures: wood is lightweight and has very favourable structural-physical properties. For this reason, planners are very keen to use the economically and ecologically balanced material for the passive or low energy construction method. Thanks to innovative new developments in joining technology, the time-tested material wood remains a construction material of the future.
