Sustainability and climate-friendly construction" working group
Sustainable building starts with the supporting structure
Future-oriented structural design is the focus when the cross-location working group "Sustainability and climate-friendly construction" meets at MVD. With new approaches, the right combinations and flexible concepts, the main aim is to minimize greenhouse gas emissions, 35%-40% of which are generated in the construction industry. Half of this is the result of upstream emissions from the product and construction phase, with up to 50% coming from the supporting structure. This gives us a special responsibility and at the same time a great opportunity to optimally adapt the available adjusting screws to the construction project. Grey emissions can be minimized with the right combinations of material-appropriate planning, reduction of the load-bearing structures with greater flexibility and the use of materials with low GWP values. This often means that compliance with the target values applicable from 2040 can already be achieved today.
Many approaches and ideas were developed in the working group and the teams and incorporated into the project planning - with impressive results.
