Aschaffenburg Hospital

Groundbreaking ceremony for a milestone in healthcare

The ground-breaking ceremony for the new operating center at Aschaffenburg Hospital on 25 November 2024 is an important step for the future of regional healthcare. The major project sets new standards in the region in terms of both construction and medicine.

Eleven ultra-modern operating theatres are being built on 4,600 square meters, including a hybrid operating theatre that combines state-of-the-art imaging diagnostics such as CT or angiography with surgical intervention options. Other operating theaters will be specially equipped for robot-assisted surgery. The new building will not only expand the existing capacities, but also bring them up to the latest state of the art.

The new building with four levels and an additional technical floor will provide additional space for two wards with a total of 80 beds. A new central sterilization unit is also included. A photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof of the building. Dr. Markus Söder emphasized the importance of such investments for the medical infrastructure in Bavaria: "Everyone is entitled to the best care in dignity and humanity at all stages of life. Digitalization offers completely new opportunities to save and improve human lives. From 2028, operations will be performed even more precisely and safely in the new high-tech operating center. The Free State of Bavaria is supporting the construction of the operating theaters with 78 million euros - a commitment to strong medical care and a big thank you to all those who provide it. The best care is provided where humanity and technology go hand in hand."
