Planning the future through dialog
At the invitation of Member of Parliament Marc Biadacz, Klaus Schäfer attended the CDU/CSU economic summit on February 1, 2024 as a representative of his Böblingen constituency. The topic of the evening, for which 700 business representatives had traveled to Berlin: "We are listening" Summit of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group - economic turnaround in Germany.
In his welcoming address, parliamentary group chairman Friedrich Merz began by outlining his economic policy principles. The entrepreneurs then had the floor. After an introduction by Alexander Dobrindt, they shared their concerns and suggestions with the politicians in individual discussions and at the open microphone, moderated by MP Thorsten Frei. Suggestions and ideas were then discussed together.
In a panel discussion moderated by Julia Klöckner, Deputy Chairwoman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag, together with Prof. Dr. Stefan Krätz from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, the focus was on family businesses. The guests were a young female and a young male entrepreneur who presented their economic assessment from the perspective of their businesses - a freight forwarding company and a food company.
Klaus Schäfer, board member of the Baden-Württemberg Association of Consulting Engineers (VBI), was able to address topics that concern planning companies in the construction industry in a personal discussion with Marc Biadacz and Thorsten Frei. These included questions about the tendering process in the European legal framework and the digitalization of administrative processes in order to speed up approval procedures for construction projects. In addition to the official program, Marc Biadacz guided his Böblingen guests through the Paul Löbe House and the rooms of the Bundestag. It was a great opportunity to gain in-depth insights into the work of MPs and parliamentary processes and to take away valuable ideas.
