Construction work on schedule

Dresden invests 10 million euros in the "Am Landgraben" school site

The city of Dresden is consistently focusing on the modernization of the "Am Landgraben" school site and is investing an impressive 10 million euros. The start of construction for the school on Neudobritzer Weg with an impressive main usable area of around 1,800 m² was almost exactly one year ago. The earthworks for the building, which has a partial basement, began on time on November 22, 2022. The shell construction work was also completed on schedule at the beginning of August 2023. The façade and roofing work is currently nearing completion. The official handover of the school is planned for August 2024.

The main load-bearing structure of this three-storey school building, which meets a variety of special requirements as a vocational training facility with numerous workshops and specialist cabinets, was consistently implemented in the form of a reinforced concrete skeleton structure with great potential for repetition. In addition to the impressive economic efficiency, the quality of the exposed concrete surfaces impressed both the client's representatives and the users. The almost complete implementation of the supporting structure in solid or semi-prefabricated construction formed the basis for a smooth and accelerated construction process.

Particularly noteworthy is the prefabricated façade in ecological timber panel construction, which created a thermally activated outer shell in record time. Within just nine working days, a total of 96 individual elements were assembled to close an area of around 1,500 m² of the façade. This innovation was not only a blessing for the invited guests during the topping-out ceremony and the subsequent topping-out feast at outside temperatures of around freezing point, but will also benefit the tradesmen working on the finishing work over the coming winter months.
