SETTING THE COURSE FOR THE FUTURE - AS A DRAFTSMAN AT MVD

The three-year apprenticeship as a draftsman is a dual training program. This means that you learn in the company and at vocational school. If you perform well, it is possible to shorten the training period.
Even during your training at MVD, you will be integrated into a planning team and take on important tasks in the design and calculation of supporting structures. You will draw and calculate computer-aided design plans for buildings using CAD (Computer Aided Design). At MVD, we work very digitally and networked on the basis of BIM (Building Information Modeling).
With your construction plans, you ensure the stability of really large structures. For example, the position of a concrete support must be calculated with millimeter precision. In addition to technical drawing, you also calculate the quantities of materials required and keep an eye on the costs. It is therefore very important that you work independently and precisely. This also includes monitoring construction progress.
Closely linked. Training and schooling.
In the first two years of vocational school, you will learn all the important basics. This includes drawing basics such as drawing stairs with a compass and ruler or sketching three-dimensional objects. The timetable also includes the use of the CAD drawing program as well as construction rules and cost calculations.
You will then take your intermediate examination in the second year of training. The third year of training will then deepen your knowledge. In the final stage, you will complete your training as a draftsman with the final examination.
Training completed. What happens next?
Once you have completed your training, there are various ways to climb the career ladder:
You can continue your development directly with us or you can qualify as a technician for four years while working. After completing vocational secondary school, you can also study civil engineering.
Draftsman at MVD. This is what your working environment looks like

As a draftsman, you are the engineer's right-hand man and therefore an important part of the entire construction process. Your working hours follow standard office hours and are therefore easy to plan.
You will mainly work on a PC in the office. From time to time, you will swap your office outfit for protective clothing and a construction helmet, and surveying the current construction site will also be one of your tasks, bringing variety to your day-to-day work.
