With a mission: We plan ideas

"It took us three meetings to get everything under control. After that, we only ever said "we" to the outside world."
In 1980, Dr.-Ing. Hans Jörg Mayer-Vorfelder († 2024) and Dipl.-Ing. Helmut Dinkelacker founded the company in Sindelfingen. The ideas of the founders still shape the corporate culture today. Even if they had diametrically opposed views on some points, they always agreed on the decisions. Incidentally, they were always on a first-name basis out of respect for each other.

"Everything in life has its time." Helmut Dinkelacker
Even in the early years, the office attracted attention with structural design for large construction projects such as the L-Bank and EVT in Stuttgart or the University of Ulm at Oberer Eselsberg. The reason for this was the use of prestressing in flat slabs with very large spans. A novelty in building construction at the time.

MVD opens its first branch in Dresden. In the first few years, Jochen Salmen and then Rüdiger Pflughaupt were responsible for recruiting employees and contracts until 1998. MVD won the engineering competition for the Kleine Haus Dresden with the idea of adding modern elements to the existing building. It opened the door for many prestigious follow-up projects, such as the Dresden District Court.

"The special thing about MVD has always been the 'we'."
Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Rüdiger Pflughaupt, who has been with the company since 1984, becomes Managing Partner of Mayer-Vorfelder und Dinkelacker Ingenieurgesellschaft GmbH und Co KG.

"The inspection is also about appropriateness."
Dipl.-Ing. Klaus Schäfer is approved by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs as a test engineer for structural engineering. In the same year, he becomes managing director and partner at MVD.

Dr.-Ing. Hans Jörg Mayer-Vorfelder ends his active involvement in the company in December.

"2008 saw the start of a pioneering MVD project - our new offices."
After almost 30 years, MVD is leaving its offices from the early days and moving into a modern new home on Wettbachplatz in Sindelfingen.

"Exploring limits is part of the daily business for a good structural engineer."
Dipl.-Ing. Jochen Salmen, another long-standing employee, joins the management team. His participation as a partner followed a year later.

"The combination of planning and auditing is inspiring for me."
Dr.-Ing. Jan Schütt joins the management team as the new Managing Director. Helmut Dinkelacker, the second founder of the company, remains with the company as a creative mind and passionate engineer until the end of 2013.

MVD's second branch opens in Munich in 2015. Dr.-Ing. Jan Schütt takes over the management of the branch office

Dr. Jan Schütt is approved as a test engineer for structural engineering by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs in 2016 and tests alongside Klaus Schäfer.

MVD opens the company's third branch in Friedrichshafen. The office is managed by M.Eng. Christian Fehrenbacher. The office in Friedrichshafen is also the new testing headquarters of Dr.-Ing.

The big anniversary celebration falls victim to the corona lockdown and the strict contact regulations. Celebrations are held in small groups with many virtual connections. To mark the 40th anniversary of MVD, a comprehensive book is published about the company's origins, culture, people, milestones and successes. As well as looking back at the successes, the book also looks to the future. With many impulses and ideas for the future of the built environment. Download here

The new Flugfeldklinikum building wins the BIM CLUSTER BW AWARD 2021 in the "Best Building Construction Project" category. The innovative use of BIM data for visualizations in user participation and communication convinced the jury. The clinic was planned and built with BIM from the outset, making it a pioneer among new hospital buildings in Germany.

The company is geared towards the future. With now 58 employees and many major projects, the top management team is strengthened. At the beginning of 2021, the long-standing employees Dipl.-Ing. Markus Gartz, Dr.-Ing. Lars Rölle and Dipl.-Ing.(FH) Lars Voigtländer are appointed to the close management circle of MVD.

Dipl.-Ing. Markus Gartz was approved as a test engineer for structural engineering by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economics in 2022 and tests alongside Klaus Schäfer and Jan Schütt.
