Schorndorf
Burg-Gymnasium
With the new Burg-Gymnasium building, a striking urban landmark has been created on the edge of Schorndorf's town center. A three-storey hall with natural light from above forms the spatial center and thus the center of the new Burg-Gymnasium.
The 3-storey atrium is spanned by a beam-free flat ceiling. The vertical load transfer is carried out in some areas by means of disk structures with a 17 m span and 8.5 m cantilever. A particular challenge was the planning of the inner-city excavation pit in the densely packed neighboring buildings and during ongoing school operations.
