New Fire Station in Luckenwalde
The new three-story fire station in Luckenwalde is divided into two structures—an office and staff wing, and a vehicle hall with a workshop and storage area. In terms of urban planning, the building integrates into the northwest side of the railroad embankment. The individual areas are connected by a fluid design language and a facade with rounded corners. The facade itself consists of continuous bands of light-red brick cladding on a stainless-steel substructure, which is flush-mounted with light-colored anodized aluminum profiles. The varying building heights and orientations create an exciting and varied overall architectural effect. The office and social wing was constructed using a reinforced concrete skeleton structure with spans of up to 8 meters and features an open foyer with a cantilevered staircase spanning three stories. Loads are transferred via wall beams to individual columns. The vehicle hall blends seamlessly into the ensemble with its modern design featuring transparent folding doors and horizontal bands of windows. The vehicle hall, measuring 42 m x 13 m, is spanned by trusses without any supporting columns.
The structure is founded on individual and strip footings. The new Luckenwalde fire station was nominated for the Brandenburg Building Culture Award.
