Osterburken

Secondary school

The new building of the secondary school in Osterburken is characterized by the spacious column-free atrium with the assembly hall. This was realized by means of a prestressed bed girder construction with a span of over 20 m using a prefabricated construction method with no need for scaffolding. The corridor areas projecting into the atrium and external building projections of up to 5.50 m were conceptually implemented with the help of prestressed ceilings and wall-like beams. These wall-like beams on the upper floors also allowed for maximum flexibility above the event area on the first floor. The 10 m long folding staircase in the atrium in exposed concrete quality and a successful web construction in steel composite construction to connect the existing building round off the special structural features of the building.
