Kastanienhof Residential Complex

The Kastanienhof residential complex in Dresden is being modernized to meet current technical standards and expanded to include a spacious underground parking garage with 79 parking spaces to accommodate all usage needs. The 19 historic, listed buildings, constructed around 1928, form a self-contained neighborhood on park-like grounds with mature trees. The facades of the buildings are being restored in accordance with the historical model and the guidelines of the City of Dresden’s preservation ordinance, in close collaboration with the historic preservation office. A total of 123 apartments with modern floor plans are being created.

The attics of the three-story buildings are being fully converted, and the duplex apartments are being provided with natural light through additional dormers. The newly constructed solid-structure balconies blend visually with the original early 20th-century architecture. The exposed beam structures create a distinctive ambiance. Covered loggias, designed in the style of the dormers, face the green inner courtyard.
