Weilheim
Weilheim i. OB Public Utilities
Comprising four buildings, the municipal utilities form a single, spacious complex housing administrative offices, workshops, storage areas, and garages. The layout draws on the classic, region-specific building structure typical of Upper Bavaria—featuring a residential house, a barn (hayloft), a stable, and a carriage house—all grouped around an inner courtyard to minimize walking distances. The uniformity of materials ensures a sense of cohesion and unity among the four buildings. Overhanging roofs cast striking, three-dimensional shadows that are highly recognizable and create weather-protected areas. The skillful arrangement of the buildings on the site creates spacious open areas. The administrative building features an appropriate and inviting entrance plaza, designed to foster a positive customer experience for Stadtwerke and ESB. The architectural layout of the buildings serves to present Stadtwerke to the citizens of Weilheim as an efficient, modern, and transparent company.
The administrative building is designed as a two-story reinforced concrete frame structure with foundations consisting of individual and strip footings. The exterior walls are stabilized by a self-supporting wooden facade structure, and the building is braced by continuous reinforced concrete walls.
The workshop, warehouse, and garage were constructed as single-story prefabricated structures with cup-shaped foundations. Braced columns serve to stiffen the structure
