Waiblingen

District office

The extension building on Alter Postplatz in Waiblingen is a central component of the Rems-Murr district's climate-neutral administration by 2030. The 5-storey administration building rises above the 3-storey underground car park and will provide space for 320 workplaces in the future.

The load-bearing structure of the upper floors is a timber-hybrid construction, with the load-bearing façade elements made of cross-laminated timber and the ceilings as timber-concrete composite ceilings. The HBV ceilings are designed with board stack acoustic elements in order to dispense with additional suspended ceilings and improve the room acoustics. The load-bearing timber in this building remains visible both on the inside of the façade and on the ceilings. This deliberately avoids "unnecessary" cladding and consistently implements the ecological idea of minimizing materials and saving CO2.
